Platform grant awarded

EPSRC has awarded a platform grant of 400K pounds to found Centre for Metacomputation.

The Centre for MetaComputation is a new venture to unify current research at Oxford on programs that inspect, analyse or transform other computations. It consists of four staff members, namely Samson Abramsky , Tom Melham , Luke Ong , and Oege de Moor . Together they have received a platform grant to explore links between their respective research programmes.

The grant proposal mentions four areas where the centre will initial focus its efforts:

  • types and partial evaluation for reflective languages
  • termination analysis of higher-order programs
  • compositional software model checking
  • semantics of aspect-oriented programs

The 400K funding from EPSRC will be used for one 4-year RA position, plus a number of short-term appointments to conduct exploratory studies.
