The Centre for Metacomputation was launched on May 4. It is a new EPSRC-funded initiative that complements the applied research on metaprogramming in the Programming Tools Group with research in foundations and verification.

Transactions on Aspect-Oriented Software Development (TAOSD) is a new journal dealing with AOP and related fields. Its first issue will contain an article on extending abc, which will be the most thorough account of the process yet.

abc wins EPSRC grant
The AspectBench Compiler (abc) team has won a grant from EPSRC to the value of 363,896 pounds to investigate the design and implementation of aspect-oriented programming languages.
VF Grant judged "outstanding"
Prof. Laurie Hendren (McGill, Canada) was an EPSRC visiting fellow with the PTG for the academic year 2003-04. Reviewers from EPSRC have judged the work "internationally leading" and the overall quality "outstanding".
ROPA Grant judged "outstanding"
The work of Ganesh Sittampalam on a "Realising Our Potential Award" (ROPA) was judged "internationally leading" and "outstanding" by the reviewers from EPSRC.
