Guy Steele and Richard Gabriel visited the Programming Tools Group, and delivered three lectures in the Computing Laboratory.
Guy Steele and Richard Gabriel delivered the Strachey Lecture, entitled 50 in 50, giving their personal perspective on the history of programming language design. The event was exceptionally well attended.
Earlier on the same day, Richard spoke about the design of ultra-large systems, Design Beyond Human Abilities, while Guy gave an update on his work on the Fortress programming language What's Cool about Fortress.
